When it comes to superfast normal lenses for the Leica M-mount, one would immediately think of the famous and super-expensive Leica Noctilux series, which in its third and latest incarnation has a staggering initial aperture of f/0.95. But there have always been other options as well. Many will know the Konica M-Hexanon 50/1.2, but only to a few the Konica 60mm f/1.2 is known.
Yanidel, street photographer from Paris and Leica M9 user, has gotten hold of one of these rare lenses and written a review about it in his blog.
The 60mm f/1.2 Hexanon is a design from the fifties, but the particular copy Yanidel reviewed is a late-nineties redesign that was produced in 800 copies as a special, commemorative edition and sold only in Japan.
A very rare item thus, but also a very fine one, as you will see in Yanidel’s pictures.
