Remember the mysterious high-end compact Olympus announced around photokina this year? The only information we got at that time was that it would be sporting a fast lens that was Zuiko branded. What we thought was that it might come with a Four Thirds sensor and a fixed lens.
Well, according to 43rumors.com, this is what we can expect for early next year, the Olympus XZ-1:
The XZ-1 allegedly will feature the same 10 megapixel 1/1.63″ sensor we already know from the Panasonic LX5. The 6-24mm lens, translating to a 28-112mm 4x zoom in 35mm format, will have fast initial apertures between f/1.8 and f/2.5 — very similar to the Samsung EX1. The display is rumoured to be a high-resolving OLED panel with 610k pixels.
If these specifications are correct is uncertain at the moment, but they sound very promising. The camera will probably be announced around CES in January.
