Sony have just annouced a product we’ve all been waiting for. Sort of. This is it:
It’s a 5″, tilt-and-swivel, 1,154k dot (800×480 pixel resolution), hot-shoe mounted, HDMI-fed accessory LCD for DSLR cameras. It is designated by Sony to be used for HD shooting, where the cameras built-in display is either too small or delivers too low resolution to correctly assess focus, contrast, colour etc.
I wonder if
1) this can be reasonably used for stills photography and
2) this can be attached to any HDMI-capable camera, e. g. the E-P1? While it wouldn’t solve the strong-sunlight-problem, it would help to assess focus with legacy lenses.
An interesting product either way. Here’s the press release @ dpreview.com.
