We visited the christmas market in Maburg today, but it was terribly crowded, so we decided to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate in the legendary Café Vetter instead. The Revuenon 50mm is one of the lenses I got with my dad’s old Pentax SLR, and since I can’t afford the new M.Zuiko 45/1.8 at the moment, this’ll have to make do as a portrait lens / short tele. At f/1.4, it shows loads of spherical aberration and very low contrast, but sharpens up considerably from f/2 onwards. The “glow” wide open can have an interesting effect, though — especially in portraits.

I agree, having both the older manual OM Zuiko 1.8 50mm (with adapter), and the newer ZD 2.0 50mm Macro. The latter is one of the sharpest lenses ever made, by any manufacturer, and has gorgeous colours. But the former has that “glow” (and from f=4 or f=5.6, it even challenges the newer macro lens in sharpness terms). Still love to use it wide open, and I was thinking about a 1.4 as well…
